About Me.

Hi, I’m Ryan Hanigan, a commercial insurance broker and risk management advisore specializing in protecting middle-market businesses. With over a decade of experience, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with clients across industries to navigate risks and safeguard their success. Today, I personally manage a client book of more than $15 million in total premium and am proud to serve industries including:

In addition to traditional insurance solutions, I also specialize in alternative risk strategies, consulting businesses on high-deductible programs and captive insurance solutions. I work closely with clients to explore innovative, cost-effective approaches to managing risk, empowering businesses to gain more control and efficiency in their insurance programs. 

As a founding partner of J.J. Doorhy & Associates, I’ve helped grow our agency by 6x in just seven years. A key driver of this success is our client-first agency model, which sets us apart from competitors. Unlike most agencies that prioritize new business over existing relationships, we compensate our producers equally for renewal business and new business. A Bit About My Journey.

I grew up on Chicago’s Southside, in the Oak Lawn neighborhood, where I learned the value of hard work and perseverance. I attended Marist High School, where I played varsity basketball, and spent nine years caddying, an experience that instilled discipline, patience, and the importance of building relationships. 

It was during this time that I was introduced to the insurance industry by my now business partner, Jerry Doorhy.  That opportunity set me on a path to co-founding J.J. Doorhy & Associates, where I’ve been fortunate to build a business rooted in integrity, results, and a deep passion for helping others succeed.

Outside the Office

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me spending time with my family, playing a lot of golf, and traveling to new places. I’m also an avid investor who actively seeks opportunities in stocks and real estate. Recently, I launched a podcast where I connect with like-minded people who are dedicated to personal development and continuous improvement—something I’m deeply passionate about.
